Ourside WA has teamed up with Eagle City Mission to deliver a community outreach day that brought warmth, dignity and connection to people doing it tough and a memorable, uplifting experience for every participant involved.
In the weeks leading up to the event, our team worked hand in hand with the volunteers and coordinators at Eagle City Mission. Together we mapped out every detail from meals and essential supplies to transport, roles and on-the-ground support so the day could run smoothly and everyone felt looked after.
On the day itself, the two teams moved as one. Eagle City Mission's volunteers welcomed guests with hot meals and care packs, while our support workers walked alongside the participants we support offering a friendly face, a listening ear, and a helping hand wherever it was needed.
For our participants, it was about so much more than a service. It was a chance to belong: to share a meal, a conversation and a few laughs, to give back to their community, and to feel genuinely seen. Many told us afterwards that it was one of the highlights of their month.
Partnerships like this one show what's possible when organisations pool their strengths around a shared purpose. By combining Eagle City Mission's deep community roots with our person-centred approach, we were able to reach more people and create a richer, more meaningful experience for everyone who took part.
This is only the beginning. We're excited to keep working alongside Eagle City Mission and other local partners to build a community where everyone is supported, valued and included every step of the way.
